How Much Does A Quincera Cos

Our front door: 1944, 2007 and in the future?

We have this old photo of our front door found from 1944:

recording: © "Bildarchiv Foto Marburg"

And this is the door - unfortunately - today:

My husband has a minor change made: He has enlarged the mail slot ... :) We get quite a few packages and our lovely neighbor to receive them whenever possible. Recently, the whole thing a little overboard, so it was uncomfortable but we - hence the large mail slot:

The current door is probably from the 1950-ies and in my opinion is really ugly ... We want to exchange it for an occasional old (or a new one, which is manufactured according to old models). We want to keep the overhead light in any case, otherwise we know not even know which door it should be.

inspiration around us, we are just walking through town and have other doors photographed. I find it really difficult for me to decide on one, they all find nice;)

What Year Does The Tahoe Body Style Change

first (unsuccessful) attempt with clay ...

... or: It does not smell as it looks ... :)

described earlier, we had had a hole in the bedroom floor and after doing the old mouse's nest was got rid of, we fill the hole - after all, we wanted to avoid reinzustolpern it, and us to break the ankle.

Reminder: This all happened shortly after we moved and we were a little overly enthusiastic. We wanted to fill the hole with clay. My husband organized a Clay-straw mixture and off we went:

And the end of the story? It was way too much and too moist clay. He never quite dried and finally began to rot:

We scraped everything back out and then filled the hole with plaster - the same material that makes up the rest of the floor ...

Finally, we moved a rug:

This is only a temporary solution, because we eventually want to lay a wooden floor (boards). And a carpet in the bedroom is admittedly quite comfortable;)

So much for our first adventures Herumpanschen with the clay ...

Happy Birthday!

On one of those July days our cat seven years old. We do not know exactly when he was born, he was a foundling. We found him during a walk in the woods: He was lying in the bushes, chirped for his life, hardly two weeks old. We'll then have until the syringe and then raised with the bottle. And he was sooooo sweet:

He has grown into a beautiful cat: idiosyncratic but always gracious, a wonderful companion that fills our house with a lot of life. And even if some people say, we are only opener for our cats, I do think that they like us too.

Here are some nice pictures of him and all who have a black cat know how hard it is to photograph;)

How To Make A Buggy Street Leagal Texas

dry rot or house buck?

No - just an old mouse nest ... Shortly after we moved in we found in the bedroom so before and were horrified:

We did not know exactly what it was and because we discovered comic spun yarns, we are also thought to dry rot or house borer. We have already unpayable bills come to us to save the house or - even worse nightmares - to collapse the whole house.

What happened exactly? We had decided to tear out the carpet of the previous owner, as including one - was wood worm-eaten coconut mat - intended as insulation.

After we pulled out the stuff and thrown out the window * * Great fun

we found a strange floor. We did not know then what it is, now we know - conservationists Thank - that it is a historical stone floor of the 19th Century is that needed to be installed for security reasons as a fire barrier.

And in this soil was shown above the hole - and in the hole traces of insects, strange and tiny threads of newspaper groups. Thanks to the newspaper remains we found, in any case there is a - any kind - is old infestation, because the newspaper was printed in Gothic type.

We are right in the carpenter called our trust and he laughed at us, the whole thing after he had looked at and said, "Do not worry, this is a old mice nest, probably more than 100 years old. Your house will not collapse because of a mice nest "

You have to learn really first to react calmly and to the surprises that are a 400 year boasts old house;)

tell In a next post I will detail, as we have filled the hole.

discoveries in an old house (I): (!) Eight layers of wallpaper (. Orig. 11.7)

I love our old house! Just for fun, we tried to look at the wallpaper in the living room. There we was in fact noticed always been a kind of bulge, and we wanted to know, . what is that first my dear husband was ever equal to half his finger stuck in the wall - I love this picture:)

Well, the bulge is a - probably pretty old - wooden base:

And then stick as much as 8 - yes, eight - layers wallpaper:

layers 1 - 3, different chip wallpaper:

And on the mud wall We have found a blue painted in strong colors. I'm very excited to see the one day

The conservationists said that blue color was used was too expensive, so he assumed that that little blue cubes were (probably indigo) used in the water were dissolved and then applied as an aqueous solution.

uninvited, but really beautiful ... (Orig. 30.6.07)

The year 2007 seems to be a real worm year whether naked or snails - have all discovered in our garden. In the spring, we thought they would be eroding all seedlings and plants. To our surprise, but many plants survived, so our flower bed in the courtyard now looks like this:

This is primarily the work of my husband and I think he really has a green thumb! I love the slightly chaotic and disorganized the whole, it reminds me somehow of the garden of my grandparents. Something blooms with us forever, and it was just weeds, pardon weeds;)

And actually, the so-called pests indeed very nice:

At the end of this article here from another pair of nice pictures flowers in our garden. Have fun with it!
